Unveiling the Buell SuperTouring 1190 Model

If you are in Daytona, Florida this weekend, in addition to the usual bike Week and Daytona 200 race celebrations, you will have the opportunity to be one of the first to see the first new Buell motorcycle in a long time. Indeed, Buell Motorcycles is preparing the launch of its Buell SuperTouring 1190 Sport Tourer. Based on the 185 hp / 101 lb•ft 1190cc V-twin engine of the Buell Hammerhead 1190 Superbike, the American brand declared the SuperTouring to be the fastest production touring bike on the market.

In addition, there are no specific details, although the performances published by Buell on his website tell a little more about what awaits us at Daytona on Saturday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m. The Buell SuperTouring 1190 will have a similar configuration to the Streetactioner 1190 SX, but with a straighter seating position, fairing guards and luggage options.

We expect the engine and suspension to remain unchanged compared to the other 1190 models, which should mean superior performance, sporty handling and the continued use of the controversial ZTL braking system, although the latter should be more suitable for this less sporty segment application.

Considered the final model of the year, the Buell SuperTouring 1190 is a big part of the change considering the normally naked offers that the Buell brand launched before this model. Buell should have updated its features and its technological software package to be more up to date, but this seems to be an unlikely assumption given the current state of the company.

Instead, Buell has to rely on its name, American production and, in general, straight motorcycles to attract buyers, a Trio of factors that have not paid off for the brand in the past. Buell is also dealing with a sparse, if not existing, dealer network. Will the Buell SuperTouring 1190 be a diamond in the rough or another sign against the return of the brand? Time will tell. This will certainly be an interesting debut of this historical name.
